Engraved by F Basan mid to late 18th century after a painting by Frans Van Mieris.(1635-1681)
A Dutch Lady and her maid. Her dog dances for her.
A very fine engraving by Basan. It has been trimmed to just outside the plate mark, and there is minor brown staining on the verso, otherwise it is in excellent condition.
It has been printed on racked paper.
The paper size is approx 13 3/4 x 9 1/2 inches.

A very fine engraving by Basan. It has been trimmed to just outside the plate mark, and there is minor brown staining on the verso, otherwise it is in excellent condition.
It has been printed on watermarked racked paper.
The paper size is approx 13 3/4 x 9 1/2 inches.

A pair of sentimental Victorian chromolthographs.
Published by John Harrop Ltd., 91 Piccadilly. Manchester. Printed in Holland.
Artist: C.T. Howard who was famous for his postcards. He also painted naval shipping, aircraft and military subjects as well as landscapes.
Date Late 1800's
Size of each image including border is
24 3/4"x 12 7/8"
They have never been mounted or framed. There are a few minor repaired tears, and the overall condition is very good. The colours are still strong.

These artist's proofs are first strike impressions by:
Henry Graves (17 July 1806 - 23 August 1892) was a printseller and publisher in Victorian London.
Graves married Mary Squire and they had 2 sons, Boydell and Algernon..
Henry Graves & Company published reproductive engravings and compiled cataloged works of the artists they published, such as "Works of the Late Sir Edwin Landseer" He also had a publishing partnership, Hodgson & Graves, with Richard Hodgson.
Henry Graves published many artists whose works were exhibited at the Royal Academy and National Portrait Gallery..
Graves is buried in the family vault at Highgate Cemetery.
